1. Oh, yeah. Smoke pots. Used to love these as a kid.

Sooty and greasy and perhaps fun to do kid stuff with.

they used them on the roads under construction like they use orange cones now.
And they left them burning 24/7

10. Yup. My husband and I talked about them a few days ago.

Saw them as a kid in the 50s north of Boston. They looked like what the "mad bomber" used to slink around with in old cartoons...one hand holding the bomb, the other hand holding side of his black cape. This character of course showed up in Mad Magazine. Oh the joys of choldhood..
