(112,602 posts)I'm certainly not talking about RW memes, at all, but simply questioning the "conventional wisdom," or broadening understanding--not unlike the media in some respects.

(1,605 posts)that target other members who are dedicated supporters of a particular popular sport they disagree with, and have no real understanding of. It sometimes borders on harassment, fed by simple disrespect. Guess there is always a price to pay that others are oblivious to that has always been a part of life.

eye out for people that we try to make you out to be a fool. I had it happen to me. I stay mostly in the Lounge for that reason. Even here there are some snarky remarks.

(11,357 posts)I think that you're a DU treasure. I'm not sure if anyone has ever told you that before.
Anyway, I can't get excited with the majority of your food pictures since I have non-celiac gluten sensitivity and I'm on Keto. I try to attempt to tease you on occasion and I certainly hope that you have never felt personally attacked by me while I'm trying to be playful.

(11,357 posts)I absolutely do not expect everyone to express unvaried opinions, thoughts, feelings or solutions.
I mentioned this several times, most likely too many times, that we have several toxic loaded members here that are so miserable in their own lives that they feel the need to put other Democratic members down. There is absolutely no reason for condescending, uncivil, or hostile attacks and responses. This nonsense breaks Democratic Underground's Terms of Service.
We have an abundance of civil, pleasant and wonderful people right here AND those are the people that I want to engage with. Toxic a-holes are sent directly to my full ignore list.
Try to keep your chin up, A Kennedy!

(54,914 posts)come, I have seen posters not just differ in opinion(which is fine) but give a personal attack.
I saw the post when it was posted about the poll only leading by 5%. I didn't respond to it as I am not as smart as others in GD.
highplainsdem
(59,583 posts)bad news for Biden, a poll that most people responding to here thought was BS. I thought so, too, but didn't bother to respond.
I'm not sure what type of response you expected, or what you would have considered a positive response to the poll. "OMG we're doomed!" would not IMO have been a positive response on a Democratic board, even if it would have signaled overwhelming belief in the poll results.
And BTW, what that poll showed mostly was that RWers will line up behind their possible candidates well in advance of the election, while Democrats will often think of alternatives, then will almost all vote for the Democratic candidate. Which is SOP.

(59,583 posts)replying here could see what the "negative responses" were really about.
Niagara
(11,357 posts)Obviously I had no idea where the OP was going with this since they had left out that crucial information.
I don't venture over to GD frequently.

(9,975 posts)It completely depends on the post. Would you give some context?
If it's a negative story about Biden, Harris, or other Democrats, I don't need or want to hear about it. If it's a DU'er posting a right-wing talking point, it pisses me off.
Having said that, I normally don't respond. However, there's one DU'er who has consistently posted false information about polls and I stand up to this particular person. Sometimes, I think there are people who are intentionally disrupters..

(22,445 posts)Usually I put them on ignore.
debm55
(54,914 posts)thought about it and undid it. Some would still be posting nasty comments. I would rather see it. But that is my own opinion. It doesn't stop them--we just can't see it.

(22,445 posts)But 99% of the time when I do it, I keep them on ignore. Some people are just negative all the time. My online experience is better without them.
