Does anyone have experience getting a same day in-person appointment for a Passport?

Due to Covid there is a big backlog in Passport processing. They are even refunding expedited fees.

appointment.

This was his response:

Dear X,

Thank you for contacting Senator Rick Scott’s Office about your concerns with the U.S. Department of State and providing us with a completed Privacy Act form. I appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
We have sent your Privacy Act form and information to the U.S. Department of State and will let you know when we have received an update regarding your situation. I have put in the request for an in-person appointment at the Atlanta passport agency, and I am also currently following up where the application is currently being processed. Once the agency provides us an update on your request, we will reach out to you as soon as possible.

Please bear in mind that the rules of the U.S. Senate do not allow us to force an agency to expedite your case or to act in your favor. Our office is not able to offer legal advice or recommend an attorney, or intervene in, or influence the outcome of, cases that are under the jurisdiction of any court. However, we will do our best to assist you in whatever ways that we can.

She applied for her passport on March 14th & it was received in New Orleans on March 20th. Tracking shows it's still "In Process."

We are scheduled to leave Tuesday.

My mom is a very spry 91. It's going to break her heart if we don't get to go on our trip.

7. If she doesn't get it by Sunday we're screwed. The website still shows "In Process."

She's in Florida & I'm in Atlanta. Fortunately, we're flying out of Atlanta or it would already be too late.

We're hoping for a Friday or Monday Urgent appointment.

I need a miracle.
