Damn. I've been vaccinated but it was just over six months since my last booster when I got it. The bug's been going around 3 years and 4 months in my area and I finally got it. I stopped taking precautions a few months ago so that must be the reason.
Can you share your experiences with getting a latter variant of the bug?

(22,413 posts)What I noticed that for me is the symptoms developed slowly over the past week. Today is about six days since the onset of any symptoms and the symptoms gradually got worse.
So far, no deep cough but it looks like might still happen.
Thanks for sharing your son's experience.

(18,842 posts)Ive always felt we were all going to get it at one point or another. We had it last summer. I would guess omicron. Husband and I both took Paxlovid and that turned things around quickly. Teenager did not take it and was sick 2 days beyond our stretch.
Hope you recover quickly!

(22,413 posts)THe symptoms were mild at first and the home test came back negative. Now that I have full blown COVID it is too late to take Paxlovid.

(20,897 posts)Very mild. Nothing more than some sinus congestion. No fever, aches, shakes, exhaustion, or difficulty breathing. I had it a 2nd time after my 3rd booster.

(22,413 posts)But I got vaccinated and boosted so I don't think it will turn that bad. I'm pretty hardy, no co-morbidities.

(1,956 posts)My husband got sicker and took pax, it was suggested I not take pax because of my health issues. He got sicker than me, I felt like I had a case of bronchitis and was very tired. Not a great time, but so glad boosters were up to date. Hope you feel better soon.

(24,906 posts)For me it was a slightly sore throat for a day or so, no other symptoms. I'm 69 years old and rarely catch the flu even. I do get flu shots, though. I did not take Paxlovid.
My wife is a different story. She has asthma and takes medications that compromise her immune system. Her medications also meant she could not take Paxlovid. She spent three days in the hospital on IV antibiotics with pneumonia. When she came home she was on oxygen for three weeks. After that she was fully recovered. She is 72 years old.
So a wide variation depending on the person. We both caught it at the same time from the same person, our great granddaughter. She is five years old and had a runny nose for a few days. Other people in the house didn't catch it, but had all caught it several times previously.
