is a true hiccup, but it seemed to him and everyone else it was. He had that for almost year before some specialist diagnosed it. It sounds funny but it wasn't after a while. They cured him somehow.

while holding breath and count to 20. Stop if blink, or laugh (!), and start over. Repeat if needed. Works for me.

You may want to do this away from any peeps. They will laugh or you will, thus defeating the whole purpose..

My favorite literary cure for hiccups was a Robert Benchley essay - paraphrasing a bit...stick your head in a bucket of water and "inhale deeply twelve times".

Put the dry sugar in your mouth and wait about a minute before drinking some water. It usually works the first time.

Drink a glass of water while pinching my nose. It resets the diaphragm. Works like a charm.

It involves holding your breath while drinking, allowing the diaphragm to get back in sync. However its done. it is one of the best ways to stop hiccups.
