New in a series (until people beg me to stop) Thrift store and other crazy finds. UPDATED!

Last edited Mon Jun 26, 2023, 10:49 PM - Edit history (1)

For starters this week:

From Daiso, the Japanese store with some very unusual items (unusual to us, anyway)

a SPAM slicer.

Yes, it will slice avocados (pitted) and eggs, but those are so ordinary.

Spam a lot!

Tofu? Hmmmmmm. I'll have to measure.

Not knowing Japanese, here's what I figured out.

Since there are 9 slices, not the 11 you might expect from the packaging.

WHAT IF the 11 referred to the slice in millimeters?
11 mm = 0.433 inches
9 of them would be 3.897 inches (long dimension, of course)
And what's left of reddit says that a SPAM can is 3.25" x 3.9" x 2.2"

SO THERE! The slices are 11 mm.
Waiting for the Nobel Physics Committee to verify this!

I recall that you can order online, but last I looked, they don't sell small quantities.

Visited the Bay recently. Daiso is amazing.

I use my egg slicer for caprese salad. I also use it for Havarti slices.

Not encouraging laziness. I think it costs about the same.

Might be a regional thing. I don't know.
