(39,238 posts)I was dropping off a friend of mine at her apartment and when she opened the door, a little tortie point cat ran out the door and started rolling around on her porch. Instant love. She was my friend's mom's cat and the mom had just entered assisted living so my friend took her. My friend is allergic to cats but didn't want to take her to the shelter right away. It took me about 5 minutes after I got home to decide to take her. She's a furry little tyrant about her morning and evening walks and dinner must be served on time. I love her so much.

here on DU, I once commented that it took me about 30 seconds to fall in love with a kitten. Someone responded, How come so long?
Decades ago, I babysat for a baby raccoon whose owner was going to be out of town for a few days. His name was Brady, and he was a hoot. When his human mom came to reclaim him, i cried my eyes out. Youd have thought he was a pet Id had for years.
