I had a fenced in yard, the fence was high and the Golden could not jump over it.

One day the little Maltese comes in the house with a fresh tomato in her mouth.
I did not grow tomatoes at the time, but my next door neighbor was growing tomatoes.

A couple days later I saw my golden digging a hole under the fence and the little dog would
go under the fence to the neighbor's tomato patch and bring back tomatoes for the golden and herself.
They appeared to greatly enjoy the tomatoes she was stealing.

I then had to look every day for holes under the fence and fill them up.
Next year the neighbor moved his tomato patch to the other side of his yard.

tunnels with roomy 'caves' at their ends so all 3 dogs could hide underground.
