(4,503 posts)This is my second. The one before was a Blenheim. Best dogs ever. The most cat-like dog I could find!😂
Cavaliers are the sweetest little dogs! They seem to live to please those they love.
I have adored, and been adored by, six CKCSs over the years. Lucky me!
We should hopefully all be as loving... and as beloved... as Cavalier King
Charles Spaniels.

I wanted a poodle to go along with one!
WHERE is your friend the breeder? I'm pet-less now, which is prolly good for me, but my daughter who lives nearby would like a dog, and would LOVE it if I had one (as would her kids.)

(16,734 posts)Sam and I were sitting on the front porch enjoying the evening. Before I knew what happened, he took off toward them. The male turned toward him and got a rocket hitting him in the chest. It knocked him over and then he had the Tasmanian Devil on him. Both of
Rotts ran off to get away from him.
Sam trotted back and laid back down at my feet like nothing had ever happened. They are fearless.

(2,489 posts)That's the breed I have chosen to be my companion in my adult life. I grew up with my Dad's hunting dogs, English Setters, so I had a bias for freckle-faced dogs, and I fell in love with the Aussie intelligence, energy, bravery, loyalty....
All the qualities I would like to have!

(38,013 posts)My second one was kind of squirrely though. The breed won the 1976 Westminster Dog show and they were over bred. The last one was fine...she passed in 2001.

(22,413 posts)Athletic, handsome, and short hair.
I wouldn't want to be a dog whose fur is trimmed and shaped into funny styles.

(60,612 posts)was afraid of her, but she is very gentle and as you said athletic and handsome.

(7,428 posts)I've had several. They all escaped at one point or another, and despite my panic, they were always near home, usually sniffing around the neighbor's garbage cans, looking for snacks.

Yes, I have always had GSD's and Poodles, lol. Having smart dogs is a joy and a blessing - and a terrifying curse!

(29,949 posts)But now we are old and chose a small rescue dog. Lots of street dogs in CR.
Our rescue is mostly dachshund and chihuahua but hes the best one.
EVERYONE loves Mailo (Milo). Last week our landlady said hes the most well adjusted dog ever. And mixed breeds live longer.

(29,689 posts)Right now, we have two Great Pyrenees, a Scottish Collie, and an ancient Miniature Dachshund.
I think I would like being a Borzoi. I've had one purebred, and one cross-bred (half Pyrenees). Beautiful, super intelligent, SO loving. They lounge around till something catches their interest, then off at Warp 8.

(130,533 posts)their feet have at least six fully functioning toes and extra paw pads, an 'elastic neck' that can crane back so the head touches the spine, ears that fold shut, and flexible shoulders that allow forelegs to extend to the side, perpendicular to the body. They were bred to hunt puffins and their eggs on cliffs. It would be fun to be a weird dog. https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/norwegian-lundehund/
