(15,675 posts)But at the time I caught two feral kittens, the copyright for the Lone Ranger series had lapsed, and a lot of companies were putting out DVDs of episodes, and I found them fascinating for some reason. Anyway, I have two tuxedos who have black around their eyes, giving them masks. One of them is Kemo, and the other is Sabe.

(26,081 posts)Coco - she was a Tuxie cat but Tuxie is a boys name, so went with Coco for Coco Chanel and her trim shiny black dresses. She's a small slender cat with mostly glossy black fur so it fit. Both our cats are street rescues of sick cats.
Finley, our Aussie Shepherd dog, was already named when we got him and was 3 and name trained and it fit. Funny Finley, Friendly Finley are some of the names we call him. He's 8 and acts like he's 3.

My cat's name is Lola which is another name for the Buddha I believe. I also got another kitten at the same time and I named her Bodhi. I loved her so much but she ran away. I have this idea in my head that because she was named after the Buddha she had to go live in a cave for awhile because I looked over and she was just gone.

(76,700 posts)I don't think we had a reason for any pets' names.
We've had Freida, Mary, Sophie, Lucy, Lily, & Antoinette for cats. I feel like I'm missing a couple. We've had cats our whole marriage.
Barney, Walter & Vincent for dogs

(11,850 posts)This our beloved and now deceased Bombay cat Bermuda who passed the Rainbow Bridge in 2020. Unfortunately he was a very sick boy and I still really haven't gotten over it. Bermuda's full name was a mnemonic for B.O.L.D. He literally walked into someone's (who was a caregiver at a local animal shelter) and helped himself to the cat food. He was hungry and nothing was going to stop him from getting his belly full.

This is our only and last cat. Her name is Moppit, sometimes Moppet, whoever is spelling it. It doesn't matter. I'm her human step-parent and she was named by my step-son 19 years ago.

(7,309 posts)He was the biggest baby of an "oops, litter" (we rescue dogs and during covid we didn't get 2 small dogs neutered in time.) But, the runt CJ was having a hard time latching on to the nipple. His brother kept stealing it before his little mouth could get a good suckle. I stayed up 48 hours making sure he could nurse.
I kept saying to the unnamed big brother, "Quit being such a big bruiser, you little little thief!" My wife suggested we call him Bruiser because of that. Oh, he's a love though and he and his siblings love each other.
Oh, and everybody is fixed!

tabby male, and a tuxie female. They are not related. On January 31st, we added a brother-sister pair of Siamese kittens - coming up on 10 months old.
The tabby male is named Winston. Our sons rescued him from San Antonio while their college soccer team was in a tournament there. They brought him back to Wisconsin, where the school was. They saw the M on his forehead but must have been looking at him from the tail end because they thought it looked like a W so they named him Winston.
Tuxie female is Chessie, because she is black and white. In a nearby town, there is a restaurant built from a train car from the old Chesapeake and Ohio rail company that has their sleeping kitten logo on it, known as Chessie. When I saw that, I told myself that if we ever had a black and white female cat, I would name her Chessie. Her shelter name was Penny, which is my husbands unpleasant ex-wifes name, so that had to go.
The Siamese siblings are named Fitz and Charlotte. Fitz was the brothers shelter name, and we thought it was kind of cute so we kept it. Its a prefix meaning son of
. Their mothers name was Lottie. As we were driving home from the shelter, I recalled that Lottie is a nickname for Charlotte, so I chose Charlotte to honor their momma.
