Any Suggestions On Beating Stress?

Politics can be a serious business and sometimes there is a lot of stress when reading and following news and politics and trying to be well informed and a good citizen. How do you de-stress when you have been reading difficult news and politics? I mainly use music. I imagine humor would be a big thing to try also. I watch Saturday Night Live regularly. I also watch comedy clips on Youtube. Maybe you also have some ideas for hobbies that allow one to beat stress and not be so serious. I play Dungeons and Dragons with my nephews regularly and that is a good hobby. What do you do when news and politics get too heavy? How do you de-stress? Suggestions welcome.

In moderation, of course.

There is just something about corn aged in oak barrels that is soothing and comforting...

Walk my dog, sit in the garden or on my front porch with a cup of tea. In the afternoon, especially in summer, I can watch neighborhood kids playing. Cooking and baking are good too.

Mostly, I try to limit my news exposure.

I had a doctor's appointment today but plan on starting out at 8 am tomorrow for aride along the Ohio River.

It's quite refreshing at times to spend an evening with them at the bar bitching about the Cowboys, Rangers and Cardinals!

I just got back from three weeks at the beach and kept news-watching to a minimum.

So, for me, getting away from politics helps.

Yeah, easier said than done. Every time you catch yourself, consciously do something else.

Don't eat - stress eating is a terrible way to handle anything. Go for a walk, bike ride, etc. Yardwork. Read a good book.

Mostly stop doom scrolling.

Walk among the trees and lush greenery. Smell the flowers, the newly mowed grass, the fresh air. Let your mind rest on all that BEAUTY! Smile at people you see and they will usually smile back. Buy a cold drink or an ice cream cone, and let yourself marvel that you live in a time and place where that is available. Seriously, take a break in nature to renew your mind.
