(26,112 posts)The cats didn't want to have anything to do with him when we brought him home as a puppy. He decided when he was about 6 months old that he wanted to be friends and groom the kitties. He chose our small calico cat as "his" cat. He would reach out his paw and pin her down, then come up and groom her. This happened frequently when the dog was in during the afternoon/evenings. Zoey would hiss and spit, but he would still groom her. After a while, she started liking it, then she started grooming him back and coming up to him, laying down in front of his nose, rolling around and meowing until he gave her attention. Those 2 were BFF's for 15 years. They passed within 9 months of each other.
