The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsBonjour!
Hi. I've been lurking here for several years, just joined recently and been trying to decide whether or not to post an intro, because I'm not that very interesting and struggle talking about myself. But here goes.
My "real" life is like a Stephen King/Alfred Hitchcock collaboration, with a side of Grand Guignol without the sex. It's very hard. So whenever I can escape for a while, I like to come here to DU, where I feel comfortable, and sometimes, comforted.
Tidbits about me:
If I could only watch one show forever it would be The X-Files, from the beginning. Second place would probably go to Svengoolie.
Hillary Clinton gave the commencement speech at my college graduation. (No, not Wellesley) I was not a traditional student.
I'm a reader. A few faves: Joyce Carol Oates, Tanith Lee, Neil Gaiman.
I'm a birder, an animal and nature lover, and horror buff.
One of my favorite contemporary movies is "What We Do In the Shadows." Hilarious indy, while respectful of the mythos.
I'm a member of Bills Mafia, since birth. (No, we don't all break tables or go topless in a blizzard)
DUers have kept me laughing and righteously angry and somewhat sane-ish since the Orange Ass's reign of terror began in 2016. I'm grateful to be a part of this community.

Thank you for your definitely interesting introduction.
Fellow reader here. Retired librarian. Tanith Lee is an old favorite, and Neil Gaiman was really popular in my middle school and high school libraries.
Heres to laughter and righteous anger and being somewhat sane-ish in these interesting times, in this
(Democratic kick-ass)place for progressive people.

You like horror? Some of the violence in James Lee Burke books Are pretty horrible with a taste of New Orleans and South Louisiana Bayous. The good guys kinda win in the end.
You like horror? Keep an eye on the trump sage.

From one horror buff to another, welcome home
I'm also a Buffalonian but not since birth, and I'm not NFL fan, although I'm a fan of the NHL.
A word of warning, for whatever reason tattoo's are ridiculed here on a regular basis here on DU. I had to place the words tattoo and tattoo's in my trash can option.
