Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumswhen you go to a hotel, do you like the top sheets tightly tucked in or do you pull them out
before sleeping? I pull the top sheet out. Otherwise I feel like I am in a straight jacket.
Edit to add--does anyone know why they do it tucked in so tightly?

(19,382 posts)I think its the sheets they use at hotels are so nice. Much nicer than mine anyway. Plus they are washed the day we arrive at the hotel. At home once a week or so (emphasis on so). Lol.

(12,412 posts)In fact, I've told my ICE (In Case of Emergency) that if I end up in a nursing home to make sure they don't tuck the sheets in. Of course, that assumes that a nursing home will actually give a chit.

I hate that . Ugh.

(1,230 posts)I like my sheets smooth, not rumpled. If the top sheet comes completely untucked, Ill be wrestling the rest of the night to keep some cover from Mr. Grip-the-sheet-and-roll-over.
I usually sleep on my left side, but roll to the right side a couple times overnight. I thermo-regulate by sticking a foot out from under the covers.

(11,851 posts)Pull both the flat and fitted sheets off from any corner of the bed to check for bedbugs.
Then I proceed to re-tuck everything back in place. Apparently I like to be swaddled as I like tightly tucked sheets. I sleep better that way.

(26,667 posts)I'm annoyed by so many hotels now using duvets and sometimes there's not even a top sheet underneath! Even when there is, it's waaay too hot if the duvet is pulled up but if you throw it off you, then it gets chilly fast. There is no in between!
What happened to having a few blankets? I guess it's cheaper the other way.

(11,851 posts)I use to work housekeeping in two separate hotels and those duvets only get washed on occasion.
I remove the duvet all together and place my blanket(s) where the duvet should be.
I always suggest to people when they leave home to bring their own comfy pillows and blankets if they have the room to do so.
I've also never have traveled by plane either.

(26,667 posts)Our own challenge is that we're sometimes travelling with two large dogs. Squeezing in the blankets and pillows would be a challenge, as would keeping the dog hair off of them.
Dogs are disgusting to some people -- and that's fair, they lick their own butts and sniff other dogs butts and eat any leftover crap they can find on the side of the road.
But I think lying down to sleep in a bed with a seldom-washed duvet cover that numerous unknown individuals were doing who knows what activities on or were incontinent or whatever. Well... gross!

(11,851 posts)You do travel in a vehicle, with dogs.
The secret to getting everything to fit into the suitcases is to roll the articles of clothing and blankets instead of folding, a person can cram a lot more in the suitcases that way.
Give it a whirl the next time that you travel.

Youd wish it was just bedbugs.

(8,387 posts)Do you remember that diplomat or whatever that was accused of sexually assaulting a hotel employee in a $5000 a night or whatever hotel room?
At first people where aghast that there were apparent semen stains all over the room, the walls, the furniture etc., and everyone was like aha, he did it!
Then, DNA testing showed the semen to have come from something like eight different men and none of them were that guy.
I was the most unsurprised person on the planet. What do people think goes on in a $5000 a night hotel room?
Well, I think pretty much the same thing that goes on in a $79 motel out by the interstate. It just costs more.
Its like when people said Aha! Theyve recovered semen from material in the waste basket in the Duke Lacrosse players house!
I was like, yeah, thats pretty much what youll find in there, yep

because you know what theyre watching on the TV.
And they have to turn the TV off eventually.
Its not like anyone sanitizes the remote.

I use alcohol wipes on it.
