Couple desperate for baby having sex wrong way for 4 years - and wife is still a virgin
The pair who have not been named, but are aged 26 and 24, sought out professional advice after having no joy getting pregnant, despite having intercourse regularly. But alarm bells rang when medics discovered the wife was a virgin. She then admitted sex was "usually painful" for her every time.
She also gave them "guidelines" before they were sent home. The advice appeared to work, as news of the wife's pregnancy arrived just a few months later. They reportedly informed the now retired doctor that they were finally expecting - by sending 100 eggs and a live hen as gifts to her former hospital.
Liu said: "Four years of marriage and neither the husband nor wife knew how to get pregnant. Couples so lacking in general knowledge are very rare." She added: "But it is not uncommon for people to lack or have misconceptions regarding sexual knowledge."

(113,971 posts)confusion. I get it and I do appreciate the sweet and endearing emphasis that the couple is expecting a baby together--I'm not a total grouch devoid of sentimentality-- but only the one with the ovaries and uterus can "get pregnant." The two were obviously ignorant with respect to sex and reproduction in general, so the Mirror decides to add to that with (actual quote) "The devastated couple could not understand why they could not get pregnant and were stunned when their doctor told them the actual reason." Ahh, the irony...

(130,536 posts)couples announce that a baby is expected. Sorry, no; you (plural) are not. The woman is pregnant. The couple is not. The man is definitely not. Maybe it's nitpicking but I've always found that expression to be a bit cringey, though maybe it's just meant to be supportive.

(113,971 posts)cringing when they hear it (or the far less polite/cyncial, perhaps mocking), you'd be wrong.
I have much less tolerance lately when I hear all the (mostly RW) Congressional MEN spew all kinds of the most ignorant nonsense about the female body and reproduction, menstruation, etc. to defend their horrific views on abortion and women's health. So, even these rather benign issues with false terminology and concepts bug me a lot more.

I wonder about that husband. Could be he wasn't ready for a family. He should've at least gotten some lube though.

Oh, and it's not limited to the US, either.

(9,354 posts)I had read happened in Asia, and I didn't want to imply that this type of incident is other than world-wide. Seriusly. Every cuntry, every culture, has people to whom this happens. I can't prove that, ut I'm sure of it.
Most of the stories were not tied to a particular place.

(17,110 posts)Were a Couple Unable to Conceive for Four Years Because They Were Having Sex the 'Wrong' Way?
A story about a couple's futile attempts to conceive may be nothing more than a recycled joke or legend about sexual ignorance.
