(44,738 posts)Good and Bad. Young folk dont have the volume.
Your body insisting you get out of bed and move.
Young folk having no idea why you have a CD player in your truck, while you long for your old 8 track.
Picture albums chock full of 70 years.
Okay Deb I cheated, 4 reasons.
Okay, one more.
Getting up tomorrow morning and walking in a Labor Day weekend 5K with my wonderful wife of almost 50 years. She will kick my butt, no doubt. Shes a gym rat. And shes older than me.
Okay, one more. The best thing about getting older is getting older.

(44,738 posts)By 7 minutes in the 5K, but with my wifes intervention with the race coordinators I had a beer waiting for me at the finish line. Thats love.
Whats bad about getting old? Waking up and finding out the performer who has brought joy to your life for more than 50 years has died. Its Margaritas for us tonight.

(5,125 posts)face, neck and the back of my hands. And a long sleeved rash guard when I swim (cap, goggles). Some of my fellow senior swimmers wear full body rash guards. A lot of us have white zinc sunscreen faces because we dont care. Were there for that workout that sets us straight. Our swim gear is a little baggy from a lot of chlorine exposure and our bodies dont quite fill out our Speedos like they use to. Oh well.
funny story: a couple was sitting in the bleachers waiting for a boys water polo game. I heard one of them say some of these old people can swim pretty good. Hell yeah we can. Theres a couple of elites among us, including a couple of former Olympians (old but gold).
The beauty of getting old is we just dont care.

(7,080 posts)We are all pushing 76 and we rehashed old memories and shared life's stories and laughed and laughed. Decided it was great to have 75 years of crazy-stuff-we-did memories. And how sad to end up in a nursing home with NO memories of any fun. Our lives have been trippy as hell and we are grateful. And we don't care if our clothes are cool or not. Whatever is comfortable.

That's a really big thing to me. I think one of the most unhealthy things in life is an alarm clock.
