OP
I'm thinking this is a situation where you see a child or a pet locked in someone elses car

I walk around with a plunger in each back pocket and a roll of tape stuck to my head.

I'm not sure I always carry something that can be used to break open a car window.

(130,528 posts)1. But if your plungers are in your car and you're locked out of the car,
what good are the plungers?

and you have plungers in your car which can be used to remedy the situation.

People don't mess with you, then.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)4. That's cool! ...but...
..if I see a child or pet locked in a hot car, I'm breaking a window immediately.

But I don't walk around with it.

Of course, I wouldn't walk around with two toilet plungers, either.

(23,082 posts)10. A few months ago I posted a story about a woman
whose automotive electrical system went haywire while she was driving. She could not open the doors and she burned to death in the car... about 10 miles from where I live.
I bought one of those and have it strapped to my sun visor. If I'm trapped or someone else is, I'm ready.
But if my toilet overflows or my sink clogs, I want to be ready for that too.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)8. If a child or pet...
...is suffering in a hot car, I do hope you would try something.
