The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWishbone Ash - BBC appearance 1971, German TV concert 1976 (90 min), UK TV concert 1990 (50 min)
The first and last of these are the original lineup of the band. The one from 1976 has another great guitarist who had replaced one of the original dual lead guitarists. I've already posted these in Music Appreciation, but I'm guessing we have some Wishbone Ash fans in the Lounge who missed those threads. I'll link to the MA threads above each video, though, for the info on the video in the MA posts.

(20,996 posts)I have some vinyl but haven't listened for long time. Really brought back the memories of why I bought it to begin with, though I don't get as high as I did back then.
I had an opportunity to see them a couple months ago at a small concert theater in nearby Kent OH, but sometimes I have to pick & choose. I'll make a point of catching them next time. Thanx for posting!

(63,107 posts)two bands playing their music now, each with only one original member.
The one you could have seen there last spring, which uses the Wishbone Ash name, has Andy Powell as the only original member of the band:

Founding member of Wishbone Ash and lead vocalist Martin Turner has another band, Martin Turner Ex Wishbone Ash:

And guitarist Ted Turner, who had lead vocal in that first video, is working with his wife Majella:

(20,996 posts)The other is Robins Theater here in Warren, a 100 year old movie theater that saw a ten million dollar renovation back to its original glory. Back in the day I had to drive to Akron, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh to see these bands. Now in my retirement, they come to me. I make at least two shows a month, usually front row.
Next week is The Drive By Truckers at Packard Music Hall and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils the next night in Kent. Next month I'm in the front row for Justin Hayward. Life is good.
Still, I have to limit my credit card. Wishbone Ash is one I'll see next time for sure.

(20,996 posts)I saw him last January at The Robins, a wonderful venue here in Warren OH. Mike Dawes just blew me away.
This time I gave my two front row tickets to a dear friend for him & his wife. I'm going to sit by the sound board this time with a group of friends. I'm a member so I get presale tix.
