That's why the 3 months of research. Many mistakes, many phone calls. Kitchens are difficult.

Can tell that was a lot of sweat equity.
White and especially mint color cupboards always remind me
of that room at the end of every hospital ward.

I think we had the exact same oak cabinets in our 90s kitchen. DH painted them a gray-blue, which looks great but nowhere near as impressive as yours!

My painting skills are terrible, and cabinets are not the easiest to paint.

Glad your paint job came out nice!

Cute dog.

Let’s talk numbers. How much for materials? Don’t make me subpoena your records. 😁

I got some money recently and we decided to replace the deck instead of redoing the kitchen. Looks like you kept the appliances.

Kept the stove and dishwasher.

I wish I could tell you how much that kitchen cost. The problem is, I was doing so much on the house at that time, my receipts include costs for non-kitchen materials as well.

My gut feel is that it was fairly expensive, but probably less that replacing the cabinets. I somehow got the idea that I was going to do this myself if it killed me. I dislike paying contractors for something that I might be able to do.

The thing is...these cabinets are now pretty high end, and it would cost a mint to get something similar off the shelf. The factory finish on the doors and refacing stock is so good, I would never be able to replicate it myself.

Whatever you do...if you ever decide you want your kitchen refaced, don't use a big box store. They charge you through the ass, and the materials are sub-standard.

Did you do your deck yet?

We have a quote request to another friend recommended operation.

I missed that in the fridge.
Bought this (only one I will ever buy) house in 2019. Moving day, I get to the end and sit down on whatever furniture we had looking back into the kitchen. Three cabinets in the corner are a slightly different shade. No one had noticed it in the 3 visits we made pre-close.

14. In the middle of the job...

when I was refacing the stiles and rails, I discovered that my base cabinets on the short side of the "L" were horribly out of level. I was scared shitless at this point, because I knew that the quartz company would not template the countertop unless both sides of the "L" were level and in the same plane.

So I needed to shim up the base cabinets, but I wasn't sure if I could pull them out and shim them without the refacing material ripping off.

All turned out well, got them shimmed up and made up the difference in the toe kick.

You probably can't see it in the pics, but one end of the toe kick is about an inch narrower on one end over about a seven foot span.

As far as your different shades of cabinets, as it was explained to me, there's a lot of "white noise" in a kitchen, and errors like that are ever hardly noticed, unless you're really looking for them. My cabinets were VISIBLY out of level, and I never noticed until I set a level on them.

craftsmanship.

And I'm saying that even though I've always preferred the light oak finish to darker finishes, or any color paint, for kitchen cabinets. That's just a personal preference. I can still admire the work you put into that project.
