This might get interesting

About a month ago a young man from our church got married in md
We use to babysit him n his brother from time to time n send goody boxes to him
in college etc. so we made reservations at a hotel La Quintenta
For one night. Wife is in a wheelchair, told them needed a wheelchair chair accessibility
Room. Ok have the reservations.
We show up.. room is on the 3rd floor.
I ask the desk clerk show my paperwork reservations for a wheelchair room.
She tells me they have wheelchair rooms on all floors.
Ok it’s 900 at night I’m tired wife is tired just pray there’s not a 🔥.
Bathroom is stand door standard toilet no grab bars n a tub shower combo.
The only thing wheelchair accessible is the picture of a wheelchair ♿️ on the door.
Wife has to go to the lobby to use the bathroom.
We checkout the next morning. I asked to talk to the manager, he’s not here,
Don’t know when he will b in. They give me an e mail address.
We go to wedding all good n we go home it’s about 5 hours both ways.
Get home sent e mail no response. So today sent letter to manager n corporate
So poping some corn n waiting. See what they say/do.

and made the reservations for two nights several weeks in advance of my stay. When I arrive on Friday, they didn't have the room available for me as they promised and I had to stay in the adjacent room with instructions that I could move my luggage into the other room during the morning before I left for the football game.

It turns out that the other room wasn't any different than the first room other than the table was moved out of the way so there was more floor space available. The door on the bathroom was too narrow to fit the wheelchair inside and there were no grab bars for either the tub or toilet. I had to bump myself on the butt on the bathroom floor to use either. Needless to say, I left a complaint with the management and won't go back there again.

It's called the ADA, or Americans with Disabilities Act.

Contact an attorney who deals with this sort of thing. Do not discuss what disabilities your wife has with anyone but your attorney.

I pointed this out in the letter.
don't intend to get all lawyered up
but I wanted corporate to know
what was going on.
waiting to see what happens ...
no one got hurt.. it was a pain in the ass
but it was one night.
but corporate should know
cuz if something does happen
its their ass.

… worth much more than you think it might be, and it might change their policies so others don’t have the same experience. For them to label a room accessible and charge for it when it is not equipped as such is inexcusable. They probably receive tax breaks and possibly some subsidies as well based on the number of rooms they claim are accessible.

Just my 2 cents.

They will continue to do it unless you hit them hard. Just being aware of it is not enough.

But that's your decision to make, of course.
