But there was a couple years when I wore JNCO jeans in middle school. Just ridiculous things that should NOT have existed

So, not that unlike bell bottoms, frankly.
That said, I'll take any type of loose pants over the skin-tight options in recent years (even if you are a size 2).

(130,533 posts)I especially recall a very tight pair of hip-hugging bell-bottoms with wide yellow and blue vertical stripes (late '60s), and a few mini-skirts that were very mini - you had to be really careful how you sat down or bent over (you learned that you shouldn't bend over at all), and some hideous peasant blouses. In the '70s everything was polyester, so you were shiny and sweaty all the time. Fast forward to the '80s and shoulder pads and big hair. I didn't like shoulder pads; some tops made you look like a linebacker, but if you took them out the garment didn't hang right. And leggings with leg-warmers, even if you weren't a dancer. Ugh.

(62,143 posts)But I gave up on wearing bikinis a while back.
Last one I bought was emerald green with gold chains, and I liked the way I looked in it (I was about 40 then) but never wore it after noticing that some of the young women at the local health club's pool apparently had breast implants that were really obvious with their swimsuits. I decided I could survive without swimming there.
Breast implants weren't considered necessary when I was young. If you look at old video from the '60s, '70s and even the '80s, you don't notice many young women with breast implants.
Anyway, I never wore the bikini, and years later when one of my pretty nieces was rummaging through my closet, she asked me if she could have it, and I told her she was welcome to it.

(11,851 posts)In the 90's, the majority of us use to peg the bottom of our classic jeans. We didn't have choices in jeans with flares, bootcut, bellbottoms and skinny cut jeans.

(4,671 posts)I still own it, but sure wouldn't wear it!
I hated the dirdle skirts and A-line cordoroy ones with the wide belts w/big buckles. Never had that thin trim waistline or long torso and the bulky fabrics made me look even worse with the wide belts. If there were loops, I wasn't allowed to go beltless. Never owned jeans until I married and left home. No love for sphaghetti-strapped tops or dresses either due to the need to support ample "girls"; only now, retired and at home, do I venture to go braless under a tank or racerback top; not obese but definitely not a bikini proportioned body.
Love the fall sweaters, sweatshirts and tunic length long-sleeved tops over leggings. Love me some classic turtlenecks.

Also, permed 1980s hair. Never again! I've had a simple bob with bangs for years, ever since the 90s when straight hairstyles came back into fashion. My hair should serve ME, not the other way around. If it involves more than a hair dryer & a round brush, it's too much work.

(18,567 posts)(from "Nassau's Gone Funky" ).
Maybe the window-pane plaid pants I liked in the very early '70s. But my clothing hasn't changed much over the years. T-shirts and jeans seem to be perennial.
In more formal gear, the lapels on suit jackets have shrunk, shirt collars have also become more demure, and ties less wide. Overall, much less fabric is used than once was. The pastels of the Seventies have given way to more dark and sober colors, but I don't wear such things anymore. In fact, I don't even own such things anymore.
