An interesting idea about ...."Aspirin." If discovered today, it would cost 5 to 10 dollars a Pill.

If "Aspirin" were discovered today, it would cost five to ten dollars a pill, or even more.
Aspirin is a very powerful painkiller. ...It is so cheap because it has been out in the public domain for so long. (decades)
Of course, most people don't know that it is so powerful because, it is so cheap. Of course, it cannot be
that good, if it is so cheap. People have been using it for decades. Originally, Aspirin was just a pain killer.

...It was discovered in the 60s or 70s that Aspirin was also a ..."blood thinner."
It is a very strong "blood thinner." And Aspirin is a very powerful pain killer. A very cheap and powerful
pain killer and blood thinner. It has been out in the public domain for decades. People think that
a pill that has been out there for so long can't be that cheap. Yet, you can get 100 Aspirin for under $1.00 at
Wal Mart. (here is a link for that fact)

At this link, you can see 100 tablets at Wal Mart for $1.98 cents.

The above very short link is easy to get to. Aspirin at this short link (directly above) is in the 7th row at $1.98 cents for 120 tablets.

One could get a book with instructions to prepare willow bark for aspirin-like use.

"A precursor to aspirin found in the bark of the willow tree (genus Salix) has been used for its health effects for at least 2,400 years.[10][11] In 1853, chemist Charles Frédéric Gerhardt treated the medicine sodium salicylate with acetyl chloride to produce acetylsalicylic acid for the first time.[12] Over the next 50 years, other chemists established the chemical structure and devised more efficient production methods"

I am allergic to aspirin, and was advised by my allergist to avoid all NSAIDS because of a risk of cross reaction. Allergies to aspirin are not very common, so I have had some skepticism from doctors about whether it is a "true allergy." One doctor, a different allergist who should have known better, used an NSAID pain killer during oral surgery and assured me that it was ok.....until I started having an anaphylactic reaction and she had to give me epinephrine to counteract it.

The other reason why I can't use aspirin or other NSAIDS is that I have chronic kidney disease. But, as I told my nephrologist, I would never use it anyway.
