It's kicking my ass. They always do but this one is worse than the last two. I truly need to go back to sleep and I'm too achy. Just took a tramadol. I'll see if that helps.
Yes, I'm a complaining baby.

(27,834 posts)No reaction at all. I've also had 3 close exposures to Covid and never developed any symptoms. Still not letting my guard down.

(16,952 posts)It really is more of a new vaccine than a booster! That probably answers why I'm reacting. My recent flu shot was super easy, so I guess I'm paying for this one, LOL. I don't mind. I intentionally cleared my calendar today and I don't have to go back to work until Friday.

(182 posts)The info I took home from my last joint replacement told me about this previously unknown working together of Tramadol and Acetominophen (Tylenol). I had the best results, then, and with a recent cracked molar extraction, with 1/2 of a Tramadol (so, just 25mg), combined with one 500mg Acetominophen. It did the trick, with minimum use of the narcotic Tramadol.

(10,988 posts)FDA & US Centers for Disease Control just came out saying to get them separately esp with the high dose flu shot.
It is the second study to find an elevated risk of stroke for seniors after Covid-19 and flu vaccinations given together. The US Centers for Disease Control and FDA issued a public communication in January explaining that one of their near real-time vaccine safety monitoring studiescalled the Vaccine Safety Datalinkhad picked up a small and uncertain risk of stroke for older adults who received a dose of Pfizers bivalent Covid-19 vaccine and a high-dose or adjuvanted flu shot on the same day. That study triggered the FDAs broader look at strokes after vaccination noted in the medical records of seniors on Medicare.

(5,455 posts)October 3rd (5th Covid vaccine) and only felt slight pain on my arm, and some tiredness the next day. Those were the only reactions. But, thankfully, I never had a serious reaction to any of the shots. I would NEVER get the flu shot and covid vaccine on the same day. Too risky I think. Going this weekend for the flu shot.

(2,248 posts)The combined COVID-flu shots theyre working on. Not sure Id be thrilled about getting them together every fall.

(5,455 posts)a choice to have ONLY the flu shot. I'm sensitive to medication of any sort and was happy my covid vaccine experiences were minor. Never had a reaction to the flu shot but won't get it if it is required to be with the covid vaccine. Good luck!

(5,913 posts)The idea is to target parts of the Influenza virus that don't change every year. I think the idea is to move it to be like tetanus where it is taken around every 10 years.

(60,612 posts)give me a tetanus shot. I sad no,

(26,012 posts)The side effects were about the same as the last one that I had. Sore arm, sleepiness, and general blah feeling, like the way I feel just before coming down with a cold or flu. Slight nausea for a little while. The arm soreness was not as bad as with the previous covid shots.
All side effects were gone in a day and a half, except the sore arm lasted almost 3 days.

(5,913 posts)Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine, Adjuvanted (2023-2024 Formula) is the one I chose to take. It was way easier on my arm than either Pizer or Moderna, no real hangover either. I chose it as I liked the concept of the vaccine being just the full protein rather than mRNA causing the body to make a bunch of a smaller chunk of the target protein.

(16,952 posts)Unfortunately, it would not be an option for me unless I went outside my HMO, which is usually very expensive. It's nice know, though.

(4,018 posts)The only bad one was the first - kicked my ass into bed for 36 hours. I'm spacing out the Flu & RSV one week apart each.

(14,725 posts)the real killer was a few weeks before when I got the flu and RSV vacs at the same time.
Not good. (but, of course, worth it)

(8,905 posts)Then today Wednesday I was miserable in general, sluggish. Arm still aching.
But about 3pm today I slept for like 5 hours and tonight I'm much better.
So yeah, like 24 hours. But I really don't want Covid.
This is my first time getting Moderna too. All previous have been Pfizer.
Everyone: you will get through it and be protected.

(23,694 posts)Got my flu shot also; same arm.
I've been fighting with my fall allergies lately so woke up with irritation in the back of my nose, itchy eyes etc
Feeling fine.
Next up: shingles sometime before the end of the year
Can't get RSV or pneumonia because I am in a clinical trial for a combo shot of these two. The study periodically draws a blood sample to check antibodies, etc. so I just have to wait for the end of the trial. If the vax is approved, and I got the placebo the study will give me the real vaccine.
It has been a nice income booster.

(72,187 posts)The COVID vaccine, like all anti-virus vaccines, triggers what is called the immune inflammatory response, the symptoms of which you are experiencing right now. This triggers your immune system to create viral anti-bodies, which will fight infection if you get exposed to the COVID virus. The best way to improve your acute symptoms is with an anti-inflammatory.
Too many people mistake the immune inflammatory response for the illness itself, which is why I get so many patients saying "I can't get the vaccine. Last time, it gave me the disease". Sometimes I can talk them off the ledge, other times, they prefer to believe Dr. Google instead.
Oh well. Thank you for getting vaccinated. I hope you feel better soon.

(16,952 posts)The tramadol was more for the achiness, although I have no idea if helped. I haven't taken any in a long time. It may have helped me rest, but I dunno.
