For me, it's "Simple Man." Never liked the Lynyrd Skynyrd original and the Shinedown cover didn't do anything for me, either.

(7,026 posts)but I must have suppressed them because I don't recall the names. I can name an original and a cover that I liked quite a bit: Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower and of course Jimi Hendrix's cover. U2 did a decent cover of it in the late 80s.
What amuses me is when a group covers a song that sucked in the original. Of course this is highly subjective, but I always laugh when a song I think sucked the first time around gets covered by someone else. The cover usually sucks too.

(9,083 posts)Exactly my point with "Simple Man." I never liked the Lynyrd Skynyrd original and the Shinedown cover was not an improvement on it, imo.

(7,026 posts)I'm intrigued. The song must suck so bad that I don't recall it in either the original or the cover.
Ok- I listened to them both. Yep, they suck. No offense to fans of either group or of the song itself.

(7,026 posts)I don't hate the song and I like to hear it from time to time but it isn't Dylan's best work, in my humble opinion. It does seem like a lot of people really like the song.

(9,083 posts)I still like it and the Guns n' Roses cover.
