(33,089 posts)In my last house I had the Jack and Jill bathroom off the master where the Jack side had a blue bath/tub combo, and the Jill side had the pink. Floor and separate shower stalls were terraza. Vanities were Arizona ash that tapered inward toward the floor. Very 50s. Looked all over for parts so I wouldnt have to replace.

(11,878 posts)I really like Terrazzo floors. There's something unique about the look but I don't believe I would enjoy cleaning that type of flooring.
Shhhh....keep it the down low!

(11,291 posts)In Florida. I love terrazzo. If I ever build a house, it will have terrazzo floors. Heated and cooled terrazzo floors. It's a central part of my lottery dream house ideas fantasy. Easier for dogs, and if you don't want a high gloss on them, not that much work; not really much more than a tile floor.

(11,878 posts)That's good to know that terrazzo isn't that much work.

This sounds ghastly but it was actually very pretty, for the time.

(40,769 posts)Which made sense, as my dad was growing avocados hoping to make it a second career after he retired from his union job with a decent pension.
Alas, that entire rural community was obliterated by mini-ranches and McMansion development, so my parents decided to sell out (probably too soon), take the money, and run. Little remains of the place I knew.

(3,889 posts)I wouldn't make the height requirement...
There was a house we looked at a few years ago. It was what some call stickbuilt.
It was ca. 1910, visually interesting but quite vertical, so to speak. I think even my husband at 5' 10" found the kitchen cabinets "too damn high"
These are lovely pictures and I envy the uncluttered look and life, which is another
requirement I wouldn't make...

(3,416 posts)the avocado green side by side refrigerator which had these long wooden door handles and finally, the avocado green washer and dryer which had fake wood stickers behind the knobs. I also remember a gold, avocado, and brown linoleum floor ..ugh!
