I wasn't able to watch The West Wing in real time because I had a job that was overwhelming and I hardly watched anything (I didn't have DVR options back then).

It's so many seasons now that it seem daunting. The West Wing is my sister's favorite show of all time. I've heard fantastic things hear on DU and from other friends.

I have heard people say they don't like season 2, though I did. But if you are one who doesn't like it, don't let it stop you from seeing the subsequent seasons.

It's a Shakespearean tale, told in the setting of Baltimore projects and drug dens.

20. Have Gun Will Travel
Mon Nov 27, 2023, 10:43 PM
Nov 2023

It was one of the many western themed tv serials of the 50s and 60s. It starred Richard Boon, a guy who would never get a leading man role today. He played Paladin, a sort of dandy private eye, recovery man who righted wrongs, usually for money. The show had a great theme song.

Here’s an odd political connection: Paladin handed out a business card that read, Have Gun Will Travel, Wire Paladin, Hotel Carlton, San Francisco. A Hotel Carlton exists today in San Francisco and I think it’s related to the one on Paladin’s business card. It’s owned-or was owned not long ago-by Dianne Feinstein.

Theme song lyrics:

Have Gun Will Travel reads the card of a man.
A knight without armor in a savage land.

His fast gun for hire heeds the calling wind.
A soldier of fortune is the man called Paladin
