Anyone else here had Norovirus? HOLY MOLEY--it's horrible!

The kids and grandkids had it before Thanksgiving and we thought they were all past it, but it has mowed us down. I’m finally crawling back to the light after three “eventful” days, but Mr. Bear just got into the violent part. I’ve heard there have been cruise ship epidemics. I cannot imagine.

Yes, it’s a sympathy plea. I feel like I’ve been beaten.

you become a fire hydrant shooting 2 streams, one from each end, often at the same time, and often quiet violently (as in paint the walls if you arrive too late to the loo)

Noroviruses (what the OP is talking about) are a genera in the family of Caliciviridae

Vinterkräksjuka can be caused by either noroviruses or sapoviruses (another genera in the family of Caliciviridae)

And you can get it again. Disinfect and quarantine from your family, if possible. Y'all can pass it back and forth. Even after you recover, you can get it again.

About 10 years ago we had an outbreak in the nursing home I worked at. Nurses had it. Patients had it. All staff had it. We had to close down admissions and all affected nurses had to manditorily stay off from work for 24 hours after symptoms abated. Then, we all had to pitch in, even the front office staff, including the facility administrator, to disinfect the whole building. It took about 2 weeks for a full recovery for all.

Ugh, bless your heart it's awful! Both ends all at once. I sat on the "throne" for an hour. Holding a bag over my mouth while, well, you know.

Take care. Drink pedialyte or watered down gatorade, even if it makes you get sick. Chicken broth and soda crackers when you can keep stuff down. If you have zofran or phenergan on hand, use them. And keep your hands washed.

I hope you're better soon. It usually takes 2 days to get better if your immune system is healthy.

It was absolutely terrible. Luckily I had a two liter bottle of ginger ale because it was the only thing I could keep down for about 36 hours. It was right before a family wedding, too.

That if you get it there is nothing that can be done. You just have to ride it out. I'm trying to block the memory of it but I think it lasted about a week. After the first few days though there isn't a lot more that can come out.

Yes....On the evening of 4/29 (this year) I wasn't feeling well. Then, when I woke up the next day on 4/30 I felt worse than I ever had in my life (except when I got food poisioning 12 years ago but that only lasted a couple of days).

I was in bed for an entire week. I just drank water and alka seltzer the whole time. I didn't leave my bed (except to go to the restroom as things were coming out both ends). Thank God I had crackers on hand.

MAJOR healing vibes to you....

am both a wimp and have good medical insurance, I went to the ER. They hooked me up with enough meds that I no longer was simultaneously puking and, well, pooping.

Highly recommend that route if it’s an option. Made me more comfy.

Dh had it, and despite my best countermeasures (cleaning constantly, everything), I got it. Do not recommend catching it if you can avoid it.
