Being with someone I love.

1. Happiness is a many-faceted jewel

There’s happiness when I’ve helped someone, which is quite apart from the happiness when I slip into a nice warm bath. I believe in taking happiness where I find it, and despite all the chaos and noise in my life, I still manage to find happiness every day.

and related things, like I just got a letter from an old friend: two pages, single-spaced. This person is the funniest. I laughed for two pages. Really, tears rolling out of my eyes.

9. Not much lately...

I am a musician, but I had to quit playing to take care of my mom about a year and half ago. This, just as I was getting some well paying work and breaking into playing a bit with the local symphony orchestras.

It's just the two of us in her old house, I haven't seen any of my friends, or had time to practice or write music in a long time.

I try to remind myself that the vast majority of people on the planet have it much worse off than me, but I'm freaking out about my future financial security, and whether I'll ever be able to get my chops back if, and when, I get back to my former life.
