Since those are not so easy to come by...
Regular Chocolate Chunk are lovely-
as long as the chunks are at least semi-sweet! (I prefer bittersweet)
Chocolate chip cookies right after those.
These can be w/wo walnuts.
Do some people make milk-chocolate chocolate chunk/chips? I think so.
Runner ups? Probably Macadamia Nut W/O white "chocolate".
Pistachio cookies.

underbaked.
Store bought - Walkers shortbread from Scotland. I first had these while in Edinburgh in 1974. Been a fan ever since.
And cookies, as well as any other pastry/dessert, must be chased by very cold milk. I put a mug of milk in the freezer long enough for a ice crust to form - thats how cold I like it to be.

(26,856 posts)A 'basic' cookie all kinds of little edidble cookie shape decorations on top?
3catwoman3
(29,377 posts)I always make the little Christmas trees shapes, and what I call a wreath - its actually a 5 petal flower shape, but close enough. Both get sprinkled with green sanding sugar, and then the trees get a little touch of bright yellow sugar right at the top to simulate a gold tree topper, and the wreaths get a cinnamon candy in the middle.
When Im feeling really industrious, Ill also make a couple of other shaped that look sort of like blown glass ornaments and sprinkle some with pink and purple sugar, and the others with blue and purple.
They look quite festive, taste delicious, and disappear really fast. I usually make several dozen double batches by the time the end of December rolls around.
Each double batch makes about 60 bite-size cookies. Betty Crocker cookbook recipe.
You can frost them with a basic powdered sugar frosting, but theyre so small thats its a lot of work for something that my husband will devour in only 2 bites.

When I was younger I had no idea they were two separate things - also I didn't hear about macarons till in my ?40's.
Dark chocolate dipped macaroons!
Macarons: like some sweeter, and savory (had at a specialty macaron food booth).

Milano's just aren't the same as Brussels. Milano's are kind of mealy. Brussels are crisp.
I like just about any home baked cookie. I'm going to have to bake cookies tomorrow.

(23,693 posts)One of the family favorites is Chocolate Shadows. It is a really rich peanut butter dough, with melted chocolate folded in at the last minute. The chocolate has a few drops of peppermint extract in it. Then you roll them in balls and flatten them just like you do Snickerdoodles
I also love Mexican Spicy Chocolate Cookies.
These are a make ahead deal that you shape into a roll, freeze it then slice and bake as you need them. These have cayenne, black pepper, cinnamon and Mexican vanilla in them. So Good
