Pro or con, what is your opinion of Elf On the Shelf? I read the book at home and used the elf as a go together with

the book . In school, I read the book and displayed the elf. We would then make elves. The book and elf were then placed in my closet. I don't know if it is still used , but what is your opinion of using? TY

it's a fun and harmless way to engage them and at no cost unless there's a small present attached. The Advent calendar (four weeks before Christmas) is based on the anticipation of the arrival of the baby Jesus. The elf just moves around...

I don’t really care about it either way. As a kid though it likely would have bothered me. I like the straight Santa story even though it was a letdown when I figured it out at age 7.

It never was for me, but it seems to be a cute little tradition for kids now.

Doing it with mine because my daughter’s best friend’s mom was doing it. OMG what a huge mistake. I hated having to worry about that Elf and move him
Every night. Her elf left notes. So, I had to do that too. But, once you start it, you can’t stop!
It was a huge pain. Think long and hard before you complicate you holiday season even more with it!!!!

My grandson and his wife have lots of fun with the whole Elf thing with their children, who are five and six. This is the family on whose property we will be living on soon.

I found out about the. Elf when my Grandsons about 5 - never had heard of him. Walked into their house, saw this cute little doll, picked it up and started tossing him around. Grandson went apoplectic.

That is when I was taken aside and told the story of the Elf by my daughter. I replied that he is a little narc for Santa and that was a terrible thing to do to kids. Daughter was not happy with me at all.
