No cocktails tonight. Instead, Im enjoying one of my Christmas gifts, Glenlivet 16, with another of my Christmas gifts: a device that makes spherical ice balls.
I put an ice ball in a whiskey tumbler, and poured Glenlivet over it. Wonderful. Glenlivet doesnt have the peaty wonderfulness of Islay malts like Lagavulin, but its nice and smooth.
Had a wonderful day in clinic today. So glad I switched jobs. Im getting my clinical medicine mojo back.
I love you all

(112,434 posts)And forgive the question--it's the softball equivalent of getting points on an exam for writing down your correct name on the paper.

(24,770 posts)It truly is gratifying to enjoy one's work. What a great decision on your part!
There is only one whisky for me (note the Scottish spelling! Our ill-fated trip there in '23... 😥 .. PENDLETON! Canadian. Would have been embarrassing were we to have been able to complete our trip, which included tours of distilleries, had I grimaced in front of the distiller! 🏴

(86,791 posts)That was my favorite! Warms you right up on a chilly night up here in the mountains. Warms you up and puts a smile on your face if I recall correctly.
I did something weird today, I seem to have sprained my pinky finger while was taking a nap? I don't remember any traumatic almost falls or anything earlier in the day.
Aristus
(66,462 posts)Dont worry. I have both. Keep you nice and warm. 🥃

(24,050 posts)What are the main differences that make it better than the previous position?
Aristus
(66,462 posts)Theres no constant sense of urgency like at my old clinic. It much more laid back here. Its better for my stress level.

(24,050 posts)The slower pace must feel luxurious. My boss once criticized me for not being fast enough seeing patients. I (uncharacteristically) defended myself by saying, Im thorough and deliberate.
I always felt it very important to make sure the parents of the kids saw me as giving them the full measure of my best effort, because I never wanted anyone to feel they were getting the short end of the stick by seeing the nurse practitioner instead of the doctor.
Its been my experience that if someone has a single negative experience with an NP they condemn the whole profession and dont ever want to see another one. People dont do that with doctors; they just find one they like better.
Does that same across the board dismissal happen with PAs?

(16,356 posts)used to enjoy a wee dram or three of The Balvenie in my whiskey drinking days. Doublewood I believe. Enjoy!

(31,404 posts)for Christmas. He and his partner were in Scotland last July, so I gave them an Advent Whisky tasting sampler and asked them if they had a favorite I should bring for Christmas dinner at their house. Brought a bottle of Bruichladdich Islay Barley, too. Both non peat whisky, but one from Islay and one from Speyside. I preferred the Balvenie.

(113,573 posts)I spent part of the evening watching the first episodes of "The French Chef", which I just discovered on youtube. Such fun memories.
Aristus
(66,462 posts)but I love watching cooking shows on TV. I love to see the creativity that goes into preparing an excellent delicious dish. I used to love watching 'Iron Chef'. And even though I know most of the drama surrounding the 'secret' ingredients was manufactured, I still liked seeing the adaptability of the chefs in the contest.
