To trundle down the hill to a friend's for a really good dinner that I didn't have to cook, got beat at rummy and dice, then came home and went to bed eventually. The car ran great, I didn't get cold and we had a few moments where we both laughed so hard we could talk. I'd say that was the best thing, for me, yesterday.

Getting bundled up and going. We are having a wind event, started yesterday, constant 30-45mph wind with gusts that shake the house. A walk to the car can be treacherous. It's also chilly and snowy, therefore, a cold sandblast is what you have to get bundled up for. And it's not that cold, yet, so I didn't mind so much. And besides, dinner.

Our frozen juice section has gone from 3-4 shelves of a variety of juices & brands down to one shelf with four juices, pineapple, apple, grape, & OJ, all the same store brand. No more Country Orchard apple-cherry or apple raspberry.

Just an ordinary retired couple day.
Went to the bank. Paid our few bills. Bought a gallon of milk and three pieces of Pollolandia fried chicken.
Went home. Petted dog.

19. Waking up

Waking up is not to be taken lightly. Wakening comes not from our daytime awareness-mind. Wakening is a gift given.
As a best thing, it is repeatable; we get the world to enjoy anew every dawn.

Deep is the dread of not-waking.

Yesterday. It is raining so hard here today and everything is underwater, I don’t expect to see him until tomorrow, but he got plenty to eat last night.

24. I calmed a panicked mom.

My little 4 year old patient had a physical problem that could turn into a really big problem if not fixed. Mom and I were trying to handle it and she began to get really panicked and anxious. She was worried that her child would have to go to the ER. The patient and I were calm and both reassured mom that we could do this. With repositioning, a steady hand and confidence, I finally fixed the problem.

Mom was in tears as she high fived me and said that put a check mark in my box. It was very satisfying to help that little guy and give my new patient's mom confidence that I would be able to take care of her baby.

Even though I live in California, at this elevation we can get some snow. It didn't get quite cold enough, so now snow, just rain. They were forecasting several inches of snow.

But not really because we are stocking an empty kitchen in the new house we just moved into. We spent a lot on groceries, but we needed to anyway.
