Do you talk out loud to yourself?

I live with two housemates who constantly mumble to themselves as they do things!

One of them walks around saying OK out loud....Sometimes multiple times in a short amount of time. OK, what??

Why do some people do this and others don't??

One reason it annoys me is I have to listen carefully to figure out if they are addressing me about something. Is it done to get attention focused on them?

Then if I actually miss something that was addressed to me, even though it was mumbled like all their self talk, I get the complaint that I don't listen to them!! Well, I wonder why??

I am constantly talking to myself in my head, but it only comes out my mouth if I am directing it at another person.

I know, I know, picky picky picky.

“If he was trying German irregular verbs on the poor beast,” said Clovis, “he deserved all he got.”

I looked up and bookmarked The Chronicles of Clovis for later reading

I wonder if you happen to know what was meant by this line:
...Lady Blemley might be excused for pouring out the saucerful of
milk rather unsteadily.
“I’m afraid I’ve spilt a good deal of it,” she said apologetically.
“After all, it’s not my Axminster,” was Tobermory’s rejoinder.

I know that Axminster is a place, but I do not understand the reference.

With the tv , I enjoy mimicking voices
Some that amuse me, some that annoy me and some that are profound words by a character… I hope to commit those to memory . At the moment I’m practicing Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock in Elementary 😁

Exceptions are vocal expressions of love and appreciation to my plants and a variety of inanimate objects around me .

Yes I live alone and so only annoy myself

My brain misfires frequently.

I'll leave one room to walk into another and I'll forget why I walked into it. If my intention was to get an item from another room, I'll say what that item is out loud when I have to retrace my steps. I literally have to go back into the original room that I was in to remember what I was going to do to begin with.

It's also a way for me to organize my thoughts and get things done. I just got home and I needed to start the dishwasher, take the trash receptacles from the curb back up the house, charge my phone and check the mailbox. I literally talked out loud about what needed to be done first so that I can get the stuff done and organized.

I also do it while driving. It usually involves cussing out other drivers out because it appears they got their drivers license from a cracker jack box. They can't hear me so it's all good.

What huge task could you accomplish 5 minutes ago that allows you to say Ok again?

Especially when I notice you are involved in making a sandwich? Find a slice of bread? OK find another one?OK Locate the ham in the fridge?OK Apply it to the bread....OK And the real biggy in this process? Digging the jar of jalapeno slices out the fridge door shelf? That might require an extra few minutes.

I don't even think OK that often, much less spit it out loud!!

I have to stop this rant. I am working myself into a slather. Not a good look for an old lady.

I talk to myself out loud all the time! It started when I was pregnant with my daughter and it never stopped. Now that the kid is grown, the dogs find my conversations engaging and entertaining. I found out it helps me concentrate and keeps me focused when I’m working on something intricate or complicated. I’ve even caught myself talking to myself at the grocery. I used to be ashamed but then I remember I’m a mother, I have no shame left!
