(9,062 posts)They make the roast beef in advance in large batches, and you can't hardly screw up making sandwiches out of it.
The large fast food pizza chains generally have very good consistency as well. They mostly do the one thing very well.

(18,842 posts)Kids and Mr AC went to In-and-Out Burger. None of us were thrilled with our meals. But is was not my least favorite which remains McDonalds. There is noting there I like. Their breakfast sandwiches are about $4 and 4 bites of food. Tasteless. Their coffee is terrible.

I looked at the nutrition of a Big Mac: 535 calories 44 carbs yikes!!

(12,667 posts)The whole idea is unappealing. You get dry breast meat put dry bread crumbs and coating on it. Then boil in in oil. You have to have the sauce to be able to swallow it. I never understood why anyone ate them.
But they are popular.

Although Sonic is not really a fast food place, I have to rate it low because of the food poisoning I've gotten there -- twice. At different stores.

(113,971 posts)I could not get over how damned salty it was. Have they always been that way? Granted I don't add a lot of salt to food, but it isn't like I've been on a salt-restricted diet intentionally, but wow! I could not even eat it.

(60,612 posts)drive, we asked for 2 strawberry walnut salads. Was told they had no lettuce. Went to order a burger and fries for my son. No burgers. Husband was PO and asked the girl why they are open if they don't have any food. I have to tell you Rich's PO voice is calm . He never yells, But I knew he was PO. Girl comes back and says they have no manager. hands him a paper to apply for the position and closes the window. Neadless to say we will not be back. I never really ate them, I did like their chili.Until I found out they where using days old hamburger in the chili.

(2,634 posts)When my kids were much younger, there was a Burger King nearby that was always full. They had a great tube maze that the kids loved, the food was good (if not terribly healthy), the kids loved the shakes, the fries were probably the best I'd seen at a fast food restaurant. Not that long ago, I stopped by that particular BK with my (now grown) kids. The tube maze was long gone. The bathrooms were gross. The counters were poorly manned. The shakes were terrible. The fries were soggy, and they'd stopped selling the hot sauce on the chicken burger so all I could taste was greasy, oversalted paste-goo chicken. Perhaps it was just a matter of getting older, but I don't think so. I've noticed that several of the other BKs are gone now, converted to other restaurants or just sitting abandoned. The managers there also creep my two girls out (and to be honest, me as well).
This is not the sign of a successful food chain.

(11,837 posts)At least back when I was working there (in the late '60s, early '70s) there was a human element. (My shakes had to be 11 oz. I got so good at it I could feel the weight. I remember a supervisor coming over and testing my shakes and was happy to see all the ones he tested by putting them on the scale were right at weight.
I only ate at Wendy's a couple of times. And I haven't made a point of going back there.
I don't eat much fast food now for health reasons, though.

(60,612 posts)County Health department closed them, They do that all the time for restaurants that are closed for mouse/rat dropping meat stored at unsafe locations and temps. They have so many days to clean it up or they close you when they do the return visit/ 30 days. I don;t know if they allow the online local news post the problems.in your area but they do in Allegheny County. PA. That Wendy's never reopened, I can't see how anyone can go eat at a place that had those violations.
Did you complain to the manager? That is gross.

(59,106 posts)Even at fast food restaurants I like
. its hard to believe most of the minimum-wage high school kids behind the counter really care all that much about the quality, cleanliness, and safety of the food they are handling.
I worked at a fast food pizza joint years ago and most of the employees were too absorbed in their own personal lives to pay attention to making sure the orders were right or that the hygienic & safety procedures were being followed, they were just too immature to care!

(26,257 posts)it does sometimes fulfill a need, to deliver food (of dubious quality, depending on what you get) in a timely manner.
Unfortunately, I think w/ COVID and the miserable wages that these fast-food restaurants pay their people/employees, no wonder they have continuous trouble/issues in getting people to work for them. The Burger King (one of them) near us is always promoting all sorts of gizmos to entice people to work for them, get paid the same day, flex. hours, benefits, etc. I don't know if this is the case of all fast-food places in the city (STLMO), but it does surprise me that they are so desperate to hire w/ these incentives being offered (has been for at least a couple of years).
debm55
(60,612 posts)non fresh produce. They have no choice. Covid and the effects did bring the products down in quality but up in price. Eateries have themselves to blame for not rebounding after Covid. Their lack of interest in the pay and benefits to the workers should have gone up. across the board. The corporations don't give a shit. Why should the consumer. and the workers? I wonder if the corporate heads understand that? Bennies won't help--it's the quality of the product not the quality of the workers. JMO But the companies can't continue to blame Covid. People started cooking on their own at the time and found the it was healthier and of better products. They can offer all the bennies they want, but the stores around here closing around here closing because of Covid is false flag. Many were shitty before Covid,

(2,504 posts)Love their spicy tenders. Unfortunately their service is pretty much universally terrible in my experience. Been to multiple locations in multiple states and reasonably fast and accurate is something they just can't do at the same time. It's either one or the other or neither. Increasingly neither as of late. Between that and the rising prices I haven't been to one in 6 months.

(6,640 posts)The way it works for us is there are good locations within a chain and bad locations. If one of us is going out and asks the other if they want anything at Wendy's for example, the other will always ask if they're going to the "good Wendy's" or the "bad Wendy's." "I never go to the bad Wendy's anymore," comes the reply. We have good and bad Wendy's, McDonald's and Taco Bells, so we always have to make sure we're on the same page location-wise.

Number 2 is Hardee's, which sucked in the 70s and hasn't gotten better.
I like Sonic's burgers, but damn, they got lousy service--cannot get orders right, and they'll look you in the eye and short you the change.
I like Wendy's better, but they're really pricey, and seem to be going away. Several of their joints around here have closed.

(24,906 posts)I actually like their food, and have never experienced any of the gastric side effects they are known for. The problem is the prices. The food is not worth spending $15 for lunch. I can go to sit-down restaurants for lunch for that kind of money if I order from the senior menu, which I often do.
As far as food quality, that would be KFC. My mother and now my wife made/make such great fried chicken, I would never eat KFC garbage. Funny thing is, my wife likes their food.
