The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsFor the first time in three years, I'm surfing DU from my reading chair in my library.
Finally got the last of my grandson's stuff out of here. We had to use my library as a storage space while he was here. I finally get to sit among my bookshelves, admiring my books, reveling in my literary retreat from the world. This has been so long coming. It's like returning from exile.

(29,580 posts)I would love to have a library room, especially with bookcases tall enough to need one of those rolling ladders.

(72,315 posts)My library started out as a small guest bedroom (or maybe intended as a nursery) right off the master bedroom. As soon as we moved in, I commandeered it, and moved all of my books and bookcases into it, installed a computer desk, set up my stereo, and hung up my pictures and Army memorabilia.
So, yeah; it's a man-cave. But a highly literate one.

But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's only twenty-three.
Still, I'm glad I was finally able to rescue my library from storage-closet purgatory.
