This amazing performance of Purple Rain on America's Got Talent came across my feed.....

I am a HUGE Prince fan and this performace left more than 1 tear in my eyes. This is Purple Rain as sung by a gospel choir. Simply stunning! The performance starts at the 3 minute mark in the video below. Enjoy!!

the top in prior seasons. Anyway, after this performance Simon gave them the golden buzzer and they will automatically be in the finals now and don't have to compete in any more of the preliminary rounds. That sounds like a pretty big deal to me.

in having a Gospel choir singing this song. Following in the time and tradition of "The Minneapolis Sound" when Prince, Jimmy Jam/Lewis and the great Minneapolis based "Sounds of Blackness" were all intermingling. Being influenced.
I am not surprised that permission was given because of that.
Was so grateful to have been around all of that. To hear so many gifted people.

I could be wrong but I think I saw them before and they told that story. It was extraordinary that Prince’s estate gave them permission. And it was thrilling.
