The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI recently acquired an earworm.
After consulting a shaman, I was told if I could pass this on to someone else, I would be cured.
Anything at this point is worth a try, so please indulge me. I have NO reason why this popped into my brain and won't go away, but if I can pass it on to someone more deserving, I will forever be in your debt.
Thanks to all in advance!

(10,528 posts)This is a timeless and a masterpiece of a song, but that doesn't mean that I want stuck in my head frequently when I wake up in the morning.
Here I am, passing it on so that I can be cured.

Good try! And I must say, I'm familiar with the song, but as a late 60's early 70's music fan I wasn't familiar with the group. But I did enjoy our trip to Australia / New Zealand, which we took in Feb 2020, just as Covid was starting to enter the conversation.

We could wheel and deal obnoxious earworms with each other in this thread.

(28,101 posts)Sometimes it gets stuck for awhile as a replacement, but I dont mind. Its preferable to whatever was going on previously. Every time, it cuts that previous earworm into little pieces.

I'm afraid that if I switched over to this one, I'd not only get ticketed for speeding, but end up in a different county before I realized I was lost, so hopefully it won't stick! Roger's bass as usual is amazing, and as someone pointed out, at around 4:40, Nick loses his drumstick and immediately recovers. I ended up watching part of the entire film on YouTube.
So for the above reasons, I'm still looking around, but thanks! Perhaps it's time for me to revisit Pink Floyd.

Thanks, but I wouldn't want this one to stick, it's just as bad as the current one.

so if I'm going to go country I'll stick with that.
Actually, it's one of the better ones I've had.

(5,541 posts)This specific version, not the B.J. Thomas version. Probably has something to do with the "Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga" bit.

(2,447 posts)and the very first article included the following:
While you may be tempted to try to suppress earworms, Kellaris cautions against it. Theyre like a cognitive itch. Scratching them (or in this case, fixating on how to annihilate them) will only make the episode last longer. Instead, when a pesky earworm does get trapped in your head, try to remember that you cant always get what you want
but if you try sometimes, you get what you need.
It seems yours is like an old friend, so it has served you well!
