...for many years. It required a very skilled stylist to do it properly. When we lived in Maryland, I went thru about 10 stylists until I found someone who could do it consistently. A lot of stylists claimed they could do it, but they were wrong. My hair was very thick at that time, and it took at least 20 minutes with the my hairdryer and 3 different sizes of round hair brushes to get it right. And, it didn't typically hold up well overnight, so styling it was a daily task.

I still like the look, and always notice someone who has a well done wedge.

It was easy to sleep on them unless she had pulled a few hairs tighter than the rest and they would scream out for me to release them. In my grogginess I would untie that rag, ease the tension and then re-roll and tie. She would unroll all the rags at breakfast, hovering over me while I ate and then let the curls rest a while before brushing them out. My hair was mid-back length. I got a few matching barrettes carefully placed and the good old hair spray to help seal the waves and curls.
As I grew older I let my hair grow really long and sometimes ironed it, so it was the opposite of before.

After several years, a new opportunity presented itself so I cut it off. I got the job and was surprised to discover that the new company didn’t have any formal appearance rules! Oh, well. It’s easier to wash shorter hair!

and I dutifully ratted my hair, in the 70s I wore it long or braided, the 80s saw the shag, in the 90s I started coloring my hair beginning with purple and then moving more to auburn and smooth long style, then I stopped coloring and let it go silver and found stylists who cut it into the wavy/curly style. Right now, I'm in true need of a good cut, and it's what I call Amish, no style in the cut and then wadded into an ugly bun. I do leave off the silly hat affair. I hope to get that together soon. It's been difficult with distance and time.

Mr. WT has been so sick that I can't make an appointment of any kind, since at any moment it's back to the hospital or doctor. He is coming along and getting better, but has had another set back from shoddy doctoring. Now it's one last surgery to remove a clip in his prostate...no, we can't sue, but I will chat with the Medical Board. They can do anything.

In the early to late 60’s had a crew cut and used butch wax then had a greasy Brylcreem Elvis do til the Beatles showed up on Ed Sullivan (60 years ago) followed the Beatles hairstyles for several years and grew my hair to my shoulders, then in the 70’s got a shag in the 80’s cut it mostly short.
When COVID hit I grew it long again and had a grey ponytail and quit shaving, now I’m back to short.

Back when Princess Diana was newly engaged to Charles, I went to a salon and requested the "Lady Di" hairstyle. The stylist didn't know who she was or what she looked like. I guess that changed after she became a worldwide sensation. Oh, and after describing her hair, I got a horrible cut. 😫

at the Barber College in East Detroit. The other style was called "Princeton" where they left a little tuft of hair in the front but the rest was almost shaved. I think I have that right.

One month it was brutally hot, I was dying even with it in a ponytail. I walked into a shop and told the lady to cut it. She almost cried, she said really, how short? I said just cut it.

She said how about a Dorothy Hammil wedge, I said fine just cut it. I regretted that cut for months while my hair grew back!

...I had a Jheri Curl. I was working in a lab & in a glam band. I wasn't dealing with a lot of customers in those days, so I got away with it then.
Since I retired I just have it long(!) and always back in a ponytail.
Nothing notable with my hair at any other time.
