The first quarter of the Super Bowl was the best for me.
I'm not really a football fan, but we do a "Super Bowl" thing every year, up scale snacks and a few beers, mostly hoping the commercials will be witty and trying not to think about the consequences of CTE.
Just as the game started, my youngest son called and through the whole first quarter of the game, he gave me a lecture on the topic discussed here, refining the concept of dpa: Nordlund, K., Zinkle, S.J., Sand, A.E. et al. Improving atomic displacement and replacement calculations with physically realistic damage models. Nat Commun 9, 1084 (2018).
He told me a lot of stuff I didn't know.
We then discussed dislocations in different temperature regimes, dislocation loops, had a nice discussion on ways to deal with nickel's 57 isotope and the value of used reactor cores, and the value of certain MAX phases as metal additives.
Then he had to go, so we watched the football game, but my oldest son fell asleep and my wife and I went to bed before the game ended.
I woke up in the middle of the night, went down to see who won, and then noticed my wife was awake and told her "Taylor Swift won the game."
The first quarter was the best though, although I'm happy for Taylor Swift winning the game.
It was a nice family evening.
