The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWent to a Subway sub shop a little while ago. First time I've been inside one in about 6 years.
I like their subs. I got a footlong tuna on an Italian roll.
I ate half tonight, and I'll eat the other half tomorrow.
They have foot-long cookies now. I was thinking of getting one, but that would have been a huge mistake.
They were blasting Led Zeppelin in there. And I mean BLASTING. It sounded good, they had a high caliber sound system in there for some reason.
I'd post a picture of the food, but I ate it already.
That's it...that's all of the posting material I have tonight.
Oh wait...I went to the laundromat very early this morning to wash and dry a king sized comforter. It was filthy in there, but the comforter came out good.

(22,649 posts)One foot-long tuna, one 6 inch tuna. Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, mayo.
I thought $19.50 was pretty good, considering a quarter-pounder with cheese costs $47,000 now.

(42,660 posts)...go back for the Zeppelin! Our local Subway has a lousy 3-inch speaker in the ceiling sound system - and no Zep. The tuna's good, though.

I find their tuna gives me the runs about half the time. It's a real crap shoot, literally! Prefer the teriyaki chicken subs.

(26,668 posts)I went into a Subway one time and ordered my meal. The guy serving me asked if I wanted cookies with it.
"I really shouldn't," I said.
"I know what you mean," he replied. "I used to eat those cookies every day and since I cut them out of my diet, I've lost 20 pounds."

(6,991 posts)'Shoe Rubber' Chemical Removed From Subway Bread Found In Nearly 500 Common Foods
Footlong fans breathed a sigh of relief at the beginning of February, when sandwich chain Subway announced that it was removing azodicarbonamide -- a chemical used in shoe rubber and yoga mats -- from its bread.
Though the World Health Organization has said that the chemical is safe for human consumption, some studies have suggested it could be linked with asthma and skin and respiratory problems. And when the chemical is baked, it forms another chemical that has been linked to cancer in animal studies, CBS News pointed out. A series of popular petitions circulated by blogger Vana Hari, who runs the website FoodBabe.com, have also argued the case that its efficacy as a "bleaching agent" in bread just isn't worth the potential health hazards.
It's been well-established at this point that azodicarbonamide is a relatively common ingredient in processed foods. But a newly released study by the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit, suggests that azodicarbonamide is far more common than we may have realized. EWG pored through the ingredient lists of more than 80,000 common grocery foods in an attempt to figure out which products contained the chemical. And they found it in nearly 500 items sold under 120 different brand names.

(14,721 posts)Not a huge fan - there's a "Subway aftertaste" that seems universal to most of their sandwiches, but I still eat there a couple of times a month. There aren't many choices open after lunch in my little town.
But the employees at this store are great! Friendly and dedicated. Always leave a generous tip.

(3,837 posts)I do the laundry. We have a king size bed, two sets of sheets and pillow cases, change sheets weekly, one set is always clean, the other set on the bed.
A year or so ago, frustrated by trying to fold a fitted sheet, I watched SIX YouTube videos on "how to fold a fitted sheet." I gave up and invented my own method -- which is, fold it up somedamnway and put it in the linen closet.

Me: footlong, BMT - tried others, no like, half of the latest 12" meatball try-out is now in the trash.
Wife: footlong, vegie delight.
Both on white. Yes, it turns to goo if you leave it too long.
Me: it's gone within hours.
Wife: hers lasts for 3 meals.
All up AU $25. (AU $1 = US 65 cents.)
Subway is as far as I want to go into the fast food nightmare that is real life these days.
Try the tuna next. On Italian bread, just to be different for once.
Googled: where is Jarad of subway?
