do talk with a few friends and two family members.

I don't like texting much.

I got nothing except scams and other nuisances. I cut the cable years ago, and that was the only reason I had a land line at all - free with cable.

Are cordless land line phones an issue as well? If so, then it would mean remaining tethered to a hard-wired phone.

So I kept the landline. She’s gone now but I still have it due to sometimes crappy cell service in my house. I absolutely never get an actual human call on it which is ok.

robo-service checking and number renaming options.

Just a number? I let ring to answering machine
Restricted? Blocked
Certain name words (like republican?) - block or voicemail
Not in contact list? I let ring to answering machine
In contact list? I usually set custom name to appear (like "Brother Bob" or "Dr Smith" for any number they use)

For Verification calls from banks, certain companies, that number is added to a single contact which I name "Verification" so should only show up when my site login requires I copy the number & add # sent.

About 50% of all calls I never listen to or the robot gives up before leaving a message.

I don't give out cell number except those I trust. All companies get my home phone number.

Voicemail to home phone gets me text message with caller ID so I can delay if I know it's not someone I need to talk to.

App and web site to configure options, listen to VM, delete w/o listening, etc.

If our home phone dials 911, both our sons are instantly sent text message automatically.

A second number is provided with a unique ring and it should never be called unless I give it to someone temporarily so robo-calls to that # are doomed.

All for about $15/month. No spam from company. No problems. Been using it for years.
