(12,093 posts)When we were kids, the first thing you were asked was how old you were, and the second was what grade you were in. Fall was the start of a new school year, and there were lots of things happening.
It marked the start of football, and the baseball playoffs and World Series. The holidays were mostly in the fall, starting with Halloween. It wasnt a day off school, but there was a party, and you got to go trick or treating. It was probably the second biggest day on a kids calendar after Christmas. Thanksgiving happens in the fall, and most of the Christmas hoopla actually takes place in the fall.
Yup, I like fall best.

(6,674 posts)I couldn't wait for the fall preview TV Guide to arrive. For me it was on par with the Sears Wish Book, just chock full of new and amazing things to enjoy. I would pore over the pages and plot what I was going to watch for each day. And, unlike the Wish Book, we could actually access what was in it for free thanks to our antennae.

I know of its benefits based on my bloodwork for the last 4 years - July/August bloodwork is fantastic and January/February bloodwork is a cause for concern.

(448 posts)Its tough to choose. Todays weather was perfect. The golf course was packed. Good to get a start on my game for summer. Ill take this weather until May when it can warm up. Fall is beautiful around here, usually low humidity and sunny skies.

(15,006 posts)...and I always get melancholy when October goes.
And when October goes
The snow begins to fly
Above the smoky roofs
I watch the planes go by
The children running home beneath
A twilight sky
Oh, for the fun of them
When I was one of them
And when October goes
The same old dream appears
And you are in my arms
To share the happy years
I turn my head away to hide
The helpless tears
Oh, how I hate to see October go
And when October goes
The same old dream appears
And you are in my arms
To share the happy years
I turn my head away to hide
The helpless tears
Oh, how I hate to see October go
I should be over it now, I know
It doesn't matter much how old I grow
I hate to see October go

(33,505 posts)Fall is my second favorite season here.
I have a spring garden. My daffodils are already in bloom. Tulips are not far behind. The azaleas are setting buds and some flowering trees are blooming, although not yet at my house. The night sounds have started from the pond and I expect to see some frogs in my yard before long.
Definitely spring for me.

(11,550 posts)Of course where I am from, spring can mean temps in the 80s and the humidity starts to really climb. But, I love being able to move more freely and I also love being outside. SO, spring for me.

(18,629 posts)Spring is a sign things are gonna get hot soon. Fall is a sign they'll cool off. No contest, IMO.
