There is healthy population of shovelnose sturgeon in the Wabash river and very good eating. The Indiana state record shovelnose sturgeon is only 14 pounds 8 ounces. We do have rock sturgeon in lake Michigan and they grow up to six and half feet long and weigh over 200 pounds. Out west in the Columbia River they have White sturgeon and they grow more than ten feet long and weigh hundreds of pounds.

The biggest one caught this year was one that weighed 113 pounds. (!)

They really are big fish!
