Stupid serial rapist ruined a great show.

Plus, a main character would never be called "Fat" now.

Too educational. It taught kids and people to think. Somewhere online I read some considered it a national security problem because of the Cold War. Speculation as to it was given a wee push off the air in 1964. Boris Badenov and Natasha. Same with "The Russians Are Coming". USSR was serious geopolitics, not comedy.

…speaks to the IQ of the writers, afaiac. Good fare for kids — but as I grew up I’d recognize more and more of it in the adult world around me.

Looney Tunes. Speedy Gonzales has a cousin named "Slowpoke" Rodriguez that packs a gun. It's somewhat implied that "Slowpoke" may be a stoner.

Scooby Doo and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers. These two were generally always off by themselves and always hungry while devouring oversized portions of food. There's a discrepancy as the creators have stated that it was not intended for both of these characters to be stoners.

The Ren and Stimpy Show. There were an abundance of adult themes that I can't even to begin to describe any of them. Still hilarious though and the show aired on Nickelodeon.

It was a filler cartoon on The Underdog Show. The Gophers, named Running Board and Ruffled Feather, were parodies of Native Americans and Ruffled Feather spoke in gibberish.

If they show it at all. Still my favorite animated show. Because it was (with the exception of Bandit, who was added for comic relief) a serious show. Mummies, robots, aliens, vicious bandits, major gun battles with both Johnny and Hadji participating... it really spoke to me when I was young.

I think even "Road Runner" would still be shown (on a dedicated cable cartoons channel, anyway), but there's no way the classic Warner Brothers cartoons would be made today. Writing and production are all very different now, and Mel Blanc is dead.

I remember Mammy characters in cartoons.
WW II leftover cartoons used as fillers in the ‘50s — I don’t think Tojo & Hirohito would pass muster these days.

What I really loved were Crusader Rabbit and everything on Rocky & Bullwinkle. I think the only reason they could’t make a comeback would be the high intelligence and the sly political references.
