Nothing like a homemade apple or cherry or blueberry pie or homemade chocolate cake.

I also make a fabulous Polish poppyseed cake with an almond-orange glaze. I’m going to make it for Easter.

Now I’m getting hungry!

Umm... I have to say cake. Five layer chocolate like my grandmother used to make. Or her pineapple upside down cake... or her angel food cake... or... (I had this weird situation in my combined family. My mother's mother was the confectionist, but was not the best 'meat and potatoes' preparer, and my father's mother was the opposite. She did not do many desserts, but her biscuits were a dessert in themselves...)

However, I do not make very good pie. I don't quite have the knack for crust; the filling is no problem

I do bake very nice cakes though and enjoy doing it. My mom taught me to bake cakes from scratch when I was 12 - she let me bake all the Christmas cakes: German Chocolate, Coconut and Blackberry Jam with caramel frosting.

Cake is always tasty but in a restaurant I will get pie.

I even had my mother make cherry pie for my birthday. But when it became hard to find canned cherries in supermarkets, we switched to angel food cake with vanilla coconut frosting. That's good stuff, too.

Then again, I had creme brulee topped with assorted berries in a restaurant the other day. The berries were enormous and numerous, and the creme brulee was great. That falls into the "custard" category, apparently.

(I can recommend the Capital Grille in Pittsburgh if your pocketbook can stand it. The lobster bisque was outstanding)

The darker the Chocolate Cake with chocolate icing the better!!!

As for pies:
Chocolate Cream Pie (natch! 😄 )
Pecan Pie
Apple Pie
A then small NYC pie Co made a
sour cream, walnut, apple pie! 👍

I wish I liked key lime pie, but it's too strong for me.
