(12,002 posts)But, he liked them stale for some reason. The day after Easter, when they went on sale, hed go out and buy several packages. Hed bring them home, and slit the wrappers, so that air could get to them. After a few days they were crunchy.

(327 posts)I did, I used to love them. I dont blame anyone for still eating them and feeling great about it!
My cravings for sugar changed over time into cravings for hot sauce, bitter spirits, and salty, crunchy snack foods. But here are my favorite awful sugary treats I used to gorge on:
1. Candy corn pumpkins (my favorite)
2. Circus peanuts (the orange ones, with zero peanut in its composition)
3. Squirrel Nut wrapped candy
4. Hostess Cupcakes
5. Root beer barrels
6. Rolos
These are just a few off the top of my head, and no doubt there are many more I just havent seen or thought of in eons.

(39,900 posts)Mom pulled them out every year and parked them is a basket with plastic grass up on the mantel. The four Peeps are still in the box with a window. I think they used to be yellow, but they faded to white.
I have them today, stashed in a drawer somewhere.

(60,614 posts)Marshmallow Delight, if and when I want them
When I was 3/4 years old a relative gave me a marshmallow. She popped it in my mouth and that thing began to grow, and grow, and grow. I couldnt swallow it OR spit it out. 😂
My Mamma rescued me with her finger. I was scarred for life. No marshmallow, Peeps, circus peanuts, moon pies, snow balls. Nooooooo 😂

I hate the texture & that it's pure sweetness.
My wife doesn't like the sweetness or stickiness.

(693 posts)Was looking for a link to Peeps Dioramas to post. Don't like to eat them but love the creativity of those who make Peeps dioramas.
My SIL likes to soak them in vodka but the sound of that makes me even sicker than the thought of Peeps alone (too sweet, when marshmallows are one of humankind's best inventions, why spoil them by making them too sweet?)
debm55
(60,614 posts)link,
Never liked them. Right up there with candy corn in my book.

(5,393 posts)But, in a pinch, Ill choke one down of there are no other sweets in the house. Gotta have my sugar!
I think its the texture I dont like? So sticky sweet smooth on the inside with the sugar crunch from the coating. Just doesnt do it for me.

(2,489 posts)You could call the Peeps factory and request that they send the Peeps Bus to your place of business for an event. Our local library had the bus there one year. I don't think they do that anymore but it looks like they do have a Peeps bug that goes to events. You could probably invite it to the dinner....

(231 posts)Only if they were made of broccoli. I like broccoli. I tried a Peep once. It was too sweet and the sugar gave it a disagreeable texture to me. IIRC it almost seemed bitter.
(Sorry, its been something like 25 years since I left DU and cant remember all the emoticon :codes: )
