When you were young, did you get a new outfit for Easter---dress, hat, gloves, shoes for girls, boys-suits, shirts ties

and shoes for guys. Worst part was you wore them all day.

which scratched at the waist, those god awful "hats" that clamped on like a headband, new black patent Mary Janes, little white gloves and white anklets with lace around the cuff. Of course we had little straw purses too. We did NOT wear them all day though - we were out of them in a flash the minute we got home. (unless we were going somewhere for a big family lunch which we seldom did)

Why did everything we wore back then scratch? I was so happy when my mom discovered Pima cotton!!! When we were older our Easter outfits were much more normal. We lived in Kentucky where spring weather is very erratic; one year we had snow flurries. I think that was the year I had a pale yellow suit with white shoes.

This would have been 1961, or so, and I can still remember what the dress looked like. Lavender with white pin dots; sleeveless; full-skirted. There was a hat, with a thin elastic band to keep it on.

Probably white anklets. I never liked ankle sox, even as a little girl.

There may have been one other season. My parents were Depression era kids, and didn’t like spending money on things with limited use, like special occasion clothes.

(first three in line were boys - probably made a difference?) I do remember little clip on ties - but that was more the general rule/convention that you 'dressed' to go to church ("What, you plan on showing up in your GD work boots and overalls?!" "Why the hell bother ..!".) - and I don't recall that Easter was singled out for special gear.
But then again - boys - and clothes didn't really clock real high on the radar of importance - or notice. Now perhaps a new pair of tennis shoes ..!

In fact - pretty sure Easter was much more about fun (and whatever chocolate we could squeeze out of the event) - Easter baskets and hidden treats (that Easter bunny was a heck of a good hider!) - and pretty light on the church and religion in our household. And that probably starts us off in the direction of another discussion ...

New frilly dress, little hat with fake flowers, white gloves, and white patent leather shoes. Same for my 2 older sisters. We were styling!

Except one year, they put the little kids in the choir, with heavy robes on over our Easter finery. The old Baptist church was not air conditioned, and it was really hot. I passed out cold about halfway through the service. The preacher pulled me out from under the half drapes by my feet, and my Dad was embarrassed to have to go down to the front, pick me up, and carry me out.

Easter was when we got our spring and summer clothes (and shoes) for the year, mainly because of all the sales that were going on at the time, and my folks saved Christmas money for the before Easter sales shopping trip to "Monkey-Wards" or the Penneys Bargain bin. The clothes may have been a season out of date, but living in mostly Southern California coastal meant the stores tended to carry the same weight clothes for winter or summer, so seasons wouldn't really matter.
The one really good clothes set we got was what we wore for "visiting" or Sunday School.
But Mom and Dad always believed in comfort and wear being the first consideration. So the Easter clothes weren't really that special.

What I remember the most was getting home from church to get out of those clothes as soon as possible. By Easter it was barefoot time down here.

My parents were big on sportcoats for me, so they could buy 2 pair of pants (different colors) and make 2 outfits put of 1 jacket.
I probably didn't get my first full suit until around 12 years old.
But, new dress clothes & shoes every Easter. Had to wear dress shoes for school (plus the uniform, black psnts, white shirt, red tie, black sweater) so got a lot of use out of them.
