(2,791 posts)Back in the Stone Age when I attended Ohio State a girl I met there would get culture from one of the labs and I made yogurt by mixing the culture with milk, letting it sit on the counter for a day or so then add strawberry preserves when it was done. I would have no idea how to attempt it today!

(113,192 posts)Here are some useful instructions depending on if your Instant Pot has a dedicated "yogurt" function, or as in some of the latest models, a "sous vide" function button. Just remember, unless you spring for the extra $$ for ULTRAPASTEURIZED milk, you will need to heat the milk up first or your cultures won't "take." In the past five years, making (on average) 1-2 gallons/week, I calculated I have saved (at a minimum) $1200/year and part of that was with a home milk (in wonderful glass bottles) delivery service that was pretty pricey so I don't use it so much anymore.

And if, like me, you want to make some Greek yogurt too (I usually strain half of my gallon batch to make some Greek), this is a great tool:

(434 posts)It was the Jimmy Dean variety, but they are not bad. My husband usually makes blueberry pancakes and bacon or eggs and bacon on his Blackstone griddle on weekends but we have both been too busy this weekend to take the time.

(11,639 posts)It's currently 12:45PM. I'm trying to hold out until 2pm before I break my fast. I was a very naughty girl during my long distance trip and I broke my I.F. on the daily.
Anyways, I rolled into Buffalo safe and sound yesterday at approximately 4:15pm.
Never fear, Niagara is here.

(4,671 posts)We're having breakfast for dinner - ham and eggs w/cinnamon raisin toast bread and a schoice of Bloody Mary or Screwdriver. Might snack on some bakery in the meantime before dinner
- I think I mentioned that Monday/Tuesday was our weekend, so tonight's our TGIF.
Might activate a 15% plastic cash-back and order in two veggie-stuffed, bacon-laden, delicious corporate-made subs tomorrow...a warmer outdoors await some spring chores, or maybe cook something from the freezer afterwards...then we'll likely negotiate over bipartison cooking ideas and processing, LOL! He tends to drive a hard bargain--we will see.

(10,629 posts)Oh, wait, that was another thing.
I have never been able to eat anything until at least 10:00 a.m. so I just drink coffee (decaf... thanks various health issues)... lots of it. I can sometimes get a granola bar down before the usual time. Or a Pop Tart, which is so weird that my screwy guts can handle those at any time.
