33. Dr. Strangelove was/is a classic for the ages. I've watched it at least 5 times minimum, and will watch it again and

again. It captures a lot of the fear and emotions that were running strong w/ the Cold War at that time. The fear of war is still there, but there seems to be a lot more cooler heads in control today, other than the bellicose ones back then...

20. Wow... Black and white? Not sure many mainstream theatrical movies were in black & white

except for those that incorporated old news footage or were meant to be highly artistic during even the majority of the 60s--past the earliest part of the 60s--. Color became available in the 40s, became more widespread in the 50s , became even more prominent in the early'60s and by 1966 was absolutely the standard in all movies and tv--sans a handful of historical or artsy-type films or those produced in the early part of the 60s. Just saying... Remember Gone With the Wind and Wizard of Oz--both utilized color and stood for the Best Picture Oscar in 1939. Still, there were some good b&w movies made in 1961-62, so I suppose you might want to focus there (Judgement at Nuremberg, for example).

25. As I said... But I find it alarming that so many younger posters seem to confuse the 60s with the 40s& 50s

as I said after the early 60s and specifically 1966 all was in color for both films and TVs UNLESS it was an artistic choice. My feeds (especially MSN) lately are so full of really erroneous and condescending articles (and those interminable clickbait "slide" presentations" of what "Baby Boomers miss, remember, treasure, but are unheard of today" --usually including things my own grandparents scarcely used/remembered. It has become obnoxious.

The B&W really suits the mood of the movie. Very noire.

I'm positive that I forgot an abundance of suggestions. I'm also self-admitted movie weirdo, sometimes the stranger the movie the better I like it.

I also realize that not everyone is a John Wayne fan, but The Shootist is a high-rated movie with a bunch of awesome one-liners. One doesn't have to be a particular fan (or not) of one person to watch a movie and enjoy it. I know all about Polanski as well. I still like the movie The Tenant.

66. I saw "Bad Company" during a Revisionist Western movie week and couldn't get it out of my mind.

I was surprised how much I liked those '70s movies, like "McCabe & Mrs. Miller," and have a much better appreciation for Westerns (lots of excellent one liners) and watch whenever one's on TV (had no idea a movie like "Sergeant Rutledge" existed!).

67. Bad Company is sadly an underrated and forgotten film.

Before the pandemic, I had watched a few modern westerns.


Then the pandemic hit; that's when I started watching vintage western films. McCabe & Mrs. Miller is definitely on my need to watch list, along with a few other films.
