For example, take hot dogs. Yellow mustard goes on Chicago style hot dogs (no ketchup). Dusseldorf or maybe deli mustard goes on NY style with sauer kraut and onion relish.

Dijon gets added to tuna salad

Brats, I'm good with either yellow, Dusseldorf, or spicy brown, but not Dijon. Go figure.

I keep yellow, brown, Dijon, horseradish, and, occassionally, course stoneground around. I like to wrap a pork roast in the course stoneground before baking. The others I consume on based on my mood. I have been is a horseradish mood lately.

I never use yellow mustard unless a recipe specifically calls for it. I'm constantly trying diffrernt types of brown or deli mustard. Another long time favorite of mine is Guldens, one of the less expensive brown mustards. It brings back memories of the polish dogs at Candlestick Park where the Giants used to play years ago. You still see Gulden's mustard at the concession stands where the Giants play today.

I could afford a single hot dog, and as much free mustard as I dared.

Many pleasant nights reposing in a sleeping bag out in the wind swept 90¢ right field bleachers.

Living in San Jose in the 60s as a kid, I only went there a few times. I went a few times with a freind in the 80s, when I could better afford it and I worked at a small company that took us to at least two games a year, weekday night games in luxury boxes. Now that was a whole different experience. Catered food, full bar service all paid for by the company. It was nice, but give me the ambience of the second deck with a hot dog and a beer anytime, that's what a ball game was all about.

I love their current stadium, but haven't been there in a few years. I live more than 100 miles from there now. I went to several games a year during their World Series years.

In West Sacramento, and that's totally doable for you, now living in the Sierra foothills.

Instead of bleachers, they have a 'Grassy knoll' in the outfield. That is, until the carpetbagger A's move in next year and build bleachers to increase the revenue.

Better yet, The As signed a three year contract to play there for the next three years, I think, while their Las Vegas stadium is being built. I've long been an As fan along with the Giants.

Back in the days, the Oakland A's put on a good show, but I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Giants fan going back to the Seals Stadium days. That, and I delivered Russ Hodges' afternoon newspaper in 1966.

Oh, I did see one incredible game in Oakland: Randy Johnson was pitching for the Mariners, and went deep into a perfect game, until it wasn't. Seven innings, I think.

Good on sandwiches, dogs, and brats and as ingredients in things like the topping for my Easter ham.

Mustard can easily be made at home and here's a version I make about once a year:
